I think most of us have been through the following scenario: You think of some thing, you go search for it everywhere, it's nowhere to be found, and after ages you finally give up the search.. and suddenly it's right in front of you! Personally I do this all the time with the stuff in my apartment. I also did it after watching this film called Die Welle once quite I while ago, and I finally found after about 6 months of searching everywhere for it..
"Would Hitler´s rise to power have been possible in the 21st century?". That is the question a German high school teacher asks and then tries to answer through his students. His attempt to answer the question has unpredicted consequences, and some starts to think that things might be getting out of hand, but will he listen in time?
This film is the ultimate proof that Hollywood ain't got nothing on the European film scene. The film is extremely interesting both from a historical and psychological point of view, the actors are very talented, and it's generally very entertaining! Leaving out typical Hollywood elements such as stereotyping, religious messages and predictability, you never really know what to expect and can't help but be taken in.
With it's fascinating, modern and profound way of challenging the faith we have in our own incorruptibility, Die Welle is a undeniable must see!
